I have just told my two project leaders that I’ll be leaving in two months time (Me? Resigning AGAIN? Well, just wait for my next story).
I only need to give one-month notice, actually. But I think it won’t do any harm by telling my direct PLs earlier and submitting the official letter only at the end of the month.
You know why? Another project mate of mine is resigning today. When he told our PL this morning, he told him to transfer his workload to no other than me.
Anyway, I also think that it’s not good to keep it until last minute. The last news I heard about my previous manager was that he was hospitalized for three days after experiencing a sudden surge of blood pressure, because another person resigned right after I did (and prior to that, few people had also done so, though intermittently).
AND… I know some people would follow “our path” (yes, for same reason). So I might as well be among the first. At least I won’t be the direct cause of somebody being hospitalized (let alone witnessing it). Right?
