*i am taking a few minute break here, i am super tired.*
My friends usually tease me for my well-preparedness, the fact that I am always thinking TOO far ahead is hillarious to them.
Well, you know I started cooking a lot after I moved to this new apartment in June this year. It's still an on-campus housing, and I share the small apartment (huge bedrooms but small common area) with another Indonesian girl. We share with each other easy- and super fast-recipes :). I cooked more during summer, and after that it is SO difficult to think of on-campus food as, well, decent food. So I now bring my food to school almost everyday (I've brought a one year old fridge to our office, so it's convenient -- we don't need to use the bar fridge next door anymore). Since I don't have much time to cook now *well not surprising* I usually cook a larger batch (for 2-4 meals) and cook simply. When I am really in a hurry, I don't even have time to taste what's in the wok/pot :). We're definitely getting better in multi-tasking and space utilization. We dash around the apartment (lucky it's small) to cook, cut, clean, wash, eat (seriously!!) etc at the same time. It's easier when we don't cook together, but we sometimes have to take turn to cook-clean-cook-clean as we don't have enough space if both of us cook/clean together.
There are times when my cooking turns out amazing and I can so beat Ms. Stewart (kidding) but there are more unfortunate (but still edible) times.
So to beat the odds, I have a sea salt grinder in my office, to the amusement of my office mates :).
As you know salt is crucial in food, and good salt does wonder -- it's a good investment, seriously. So high-quality freshly ground sea salt will always be there to save my life *exaggeration indeed.* It helps me to always have a good meal no matter how screwed-up my cooking is bwahahahahhaa =D
back to work....
