recovered

My jet lag has finally recovered. It feels so good to be able to talk to people and have a meeting with (almost) full concentration, instead of struggling really hard to stay awake.
Now I only have a slight fever, I guess it's because the sudden drop in temperature when I walked back this evening (and the wind chill!!).

Work wise, I've already been given plenty works to do and LOTS of reading materials. I really have to catch up with things, and tomorrow I'll have a three-hour meeting. Hopefully everything will be fine eventually.

I still feel partially excited and partially SCARED about this PhD thingy. Some MIT students are TOO smart, it's so scary. I begged him NOT to enroll to PhD track hahaha (he's currently finishing his master thesis); or else he'll spoil the market =P.

My biggest worry now is the qualifying exam that I have to take next year. My second biggest worry is my lack of depth in advanced mathematics. It seems to me that MIT students breathe and eat Math's equations and proofs. This lack of depth is also acknowledged by my former professors in School of MAE. "Mechanical engineering students should get more advanced Mathematics," they argued---despite the fact that Mathematics 1 to 4 are compulsory.

Anyway, pray for me. I still have one year to prepare and I really have to start reading the notes and textbooks now! (I'll explain more about the qualifying exam later as I still have 4 papers to read).
