Sudden Longing for an Early Retirement

Dear financial advisers out there, don’t get ecstatic first. The impetus that propelled me to the sudden longing is not to have “more precious” family time (as most of their advertisements promise so), nor to circumnavigate the world in dunno-how-many days, nor to sashay along Orchard Road swinging Prada bag and tottering in a pair of Ferragamo, not bogus, please. Come to think of it, actually those are quite tantalizing.

But no, not for the aforementioned reasons. It is actually for a reason so venial you may be drop-laughing by now.

It all started when I search for an Oil Painting class in Singapore upon the completion of my one-year Western Painting course in NAFA, which is next month (November 2005). The urge to continue is prevailing. Alas, most of the classes offered are conducted in not-so-favorable timings. It is difficult to get one on Saturday/Sunday morning, a friendly course-timing for a working class group member like me.

Seems like the courses are aimed for tai tais, housewives and retirees (like most of my present coursemates). Ha! So that’s the point. I seemingly have to retire first in order to be able to join the class. Haiz….

Weekdays’ morning – out.

Weekdays’ evening – partially out, as it’s a probable time yet not so amicable as painting requires you to come in great vitality and kicking excitement. After-work mood is not so recommended unless you are among those murky artists (or gothic perhaps?). Either way, I am not.

Haiiizzzzz….

So how?

Any information is welcome. Oil painting course in Singapore, a well-reputed teacher, conducted on Saturday or Sunday. Errm… and preferably with a working class budget (S$ 40 – S$ 60 per lesson? Depends on the teacher though…).

Merci!!
